[Milsurplus] Another Estate

Maybe the purchase, crane, etc. was subtle (?)
payback for some real or imagined slight from
wife to ham??? Not totally implausible.

Some folks in the MARS programs would literally
take ANYTHING that was available. I knew
one fellow in AF MARS who lived south of Fort
Worth, TX who had bought old railroad boxcars
to store all his MARS stuff.

She originally referred to it as a "trailer" and the word stuck ...sorry.
It's not a trailer (I thought maybe it had been "trailer mounted" at one
time) it's a large, mostly aluminum, box on "I" beam skids behind their
house and compartmentalized inside (one compartment houses the AC unit).
The others have 6ft rack mounted stuff or shelf space with stuff. She is
still upset that her husband hired a crane many years ago to lift it
--over-- the house. Also a has a large aluminum radar antenna beside it.

I'm wondering how an AN/FPN-16 (Fixed Radar Navigation)
ends up with a trailer???

Now it's getting more interesting......just got back with the second
pickup full of stuff. Turns out the trailer is a AN/FPN-16 Radar Set with
Air Conditioner and what I can tell, most of the stuff still in place,
but "cannibalized some". The round CRTs are AZ-EL Ring Indicators IP127A
(dang heavy). I did find the first really good item ......a complete,
with original meters, very nice looking R-390A stuck in one of the rack
cabinets after we finally got the isle cleared. That will bring her some
much needed money.
