Am sure this has been speculated on before but just what is this penchant for 
removing name plates?
Can't tell you how many stripped boatanchors I've had/seen over the years.   
Are there guys out there whose "thing" is collecting these?   Do they bid on 
equipment on eBay (for ex) just to get the tag?   Maybe there's secret 
reflector somewhere on the web where they gloat over recent   finds and make trades 
back and forth ("Just snatched the tag off a NOS R390, I'll give you a TBW HF 
section for two of your BC-191s, etc...").

Anyway, big mystery to me.
