Polarad was a get-rich-quick company that was based in a
garage on Long Island, New York, during the construction of
the "Dew Line" in the mid 50's. I was offered stock when I
was in USAF in Alaska, and afterwards. They went belly up,
but they had miscellaneous contractors make electronic equipment
with the Polarad name on it. Most of their stuff was test
equipment for radar and other pulsed systems. They had a deal to
sell to Israel, but the kind of thing they sold didn't get approval
for export. So they folded. The name popped up again in the
early 70's when they organized a hands-on computer repair
school. There were government subsidies, mostly state funded
educational rehab programs. I traveled over there from New
Jersey just to get an obselete disk drive they had. End of Trivia.
