Had it wrong on the original email, my TBW is still using the stock
suppresser grid modulation system on the PA tube with the 843 as a audio
driver. on the subject of suppressor modulation also used a TBX six that
has no stages of audio gain, just has a transformer to modulate the 837
and that provided good audio although I did use a modified T-17 my
modifications to the T-17 involve replacing the element with a modern
carbon element, replacing or drilling out the front cover and then
installing a 2N3904 with a base current limiting resistor to give the
microphone more gain.
