[Milsurplus] A few words from your list manager

Greetings to all the milsurplus list members!

I haven't sent out a message to the membership in awhile so I thought it was
probably due.
Welcome to all of our new members to the group. I wanted to say as always it
is a pleasure to manage this list. Everyone maintains a great attitude here
and for the most part keeps on topic. We've had a lot of great discussions
over the years on milsurplus, our passion for green radios.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------

I would ask all of you a few things to make my life a little easier.

Whenever mailman bounces a message, I get it. I list here a few of the more
common problems:

1) Non-member submissions are forbidden.

If you are not a member (reading the messages off the website) and respond
to the list, your message will not be sent out. Also, in some cases, users
subscribe with one account that auto-forwards to their home account. When
you respond, it must be from the subscribed account name.

2) Users incoming quota is exceeded.

If your email acccount has a size quota, please keep it purged. If your
account continually bounces back due to the mailbox being full, the account
will be unsubscribed. If this happens, just resubscribe once you've cleaned
up your mailbox.

3) HTML or other 'fancy' text fonts & attachments

This list is not setup to accept any HTML or other 'fancy text' or
attachments. Mailmain will drop your message if it contains this. Please
send in plain ole text format and everything will go through. Dont forget
that fancy signatures also contain HTML.

4) User unknown or invalid account

We have members who subscribe and then disappear. If you subscribe, please
take the time to unsubscribe before you vanish or change email addresses.
Invalid users are immediately purged from the membership ranks.

5) Duplication of message content.

If you are replying to a message, please please snip out what your are
responding to and DELETE the rest of the message. This is common courtesy.
There are hundreds of users on this list. Every unnecessary single word or
letter you keep in the message is multiplied by hundreds that the qth.net
center has to send out over the net. We all got the first message, there is
no need for you to resend the entire context again.

6) Electronic Bidding Sites

Please do not promote your own auctions ( ebay, etc.) on this remailer. This
is QTH.net rules. I have relaxed the strict rules of no mention of ebay at
all. If it is to the benefit of the group to ask about an item you saw (like
what is it?) then this will be permitted. Your are encouraged to offer items
for sale directly to the membership but not through ebay.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------
Again thanks for helping this list be a great success. We have a very large
and growing number of military radio collectors & users on the list from
around the world. The knowledge base is tremendous!
