Let me add another comment/clarification/correction to this.  As far as I 
know or that anyone has ever said, all of the transmitters were built 1945 or 
earlier.  So a T-412 could have been built in 1944, just not originally as a 
T-412.  Although the manual says that T-412's are modified T-47A's, the original 
CDA-T crystal controlled oscillator conversion instructions also cover 
converting 52286 (ATC) and T-47.  Whether the Navy ever did any or not, I don't know.  
But Pan Am apparently did or could have.
