I came across some paperwork I had buried concerning DE-16, and what it
went to sea with. The listed equipments during trials on 28 March 1943
are:
Transmitters:
TBL-6
TBS
TCE
TCS-5
Receivers:
RAO
RAK
RAL
RBO
RBL
RBH
TCS-5
TBS
RDF *
Radars:
SA
SL
Additionally, it listes the Heterodyne Frequency Meter as SE-2307A, and a
battery for receivers RQ, RO, RO-" [a type], RO-3 and DK and DM direction
finders. The row for the receivers say "DISREGARD this entry", but not for
the DK and DM.
Curious observers will note these last equipments - at the time, they were
fairly obsolete. The DK and DM (the *, noted above) were early to mid
1930s direction finders, and the SE-2307A is from 1930 or so. The other
ancient receivers, apparently not installed, date to the late 1920s.
So, as you can see, often it was a case of what the shipyard could get
their hands on, rather than a standardized installation.
