DU is different from the others, in that it has a much wider frequency
range. The Navy found that the things just did not work well on HF, so it
was dropped for DU-1, DU-2, and variants.
 
I am pretty sure I have seen non-Bendix DU things, but I can not recall
who made them. Nearly all I have seen have been Bendix.
