Dennis, what are you using for the 800 cycles?  This sounds like the 
generator-reactance-series-capacitance problem.  If the GP-7 has the 
series capacitor built-in, like in the TBW and GO-9, the real load 
terminal voltage appears at the inside end of the capacitor, and the 
feedback voltage regulating connection must be made there.  If the 
series capacitor is not right, the key-down voltage may go up or down, 
with dramatic results.
