[Milsurplus] Re: "They're giving them away on cereal boxes these days"

I was a bit groggy when I read Bruce's post and he had me going for a
few seconds there.

Reminded me of when I was a kid and Nabisco or whoever was the sponsor
of "Sargent Preston of the Yukon" -- if anyone else remembers that one.

They had an offer on the shredded wheat (or whatever) box -- 25 cents
and a box top for a deed to land in the Yukon.

I sent the 25 cents and got the dead -- along with an offer to send me
my land for only 25 cents more. Y'see, the deed was for a square inch
of land and "mineral rights" only went an inch down. I sent another 25
cents and the sent me a simulated leather pouch with a rawhide
drawstring. It had about a cubic inch of dirt in it. But the good news
is that there was some shiny specks in it -- pyrite, I guess.
Altogether, it was probably the best four bits I ever spent.

Soooo.... I had a bit of a flashback on that one, and the ham ticket
deal didn't seem so unrealistic by comparison.

Mush!
