Dave, i wouldn't be quite so disquieted just yet.
Firearms came in; there are still people into archery. In fact, i saw at the local store a magazine
something like "Ancient Archer" or such, just for people who like to do that and compete.
There are bicycle races; bluegrass and delta blues and chamber music and historic instrument
restorers and builders; sailboat enthusiasts, and so on and so on. The QRP part of ham radio
is MOSTLY cw oriented.

In addition, people will i think become more oriented to lasting values ( and historic objects )
as the rest of consumer type products become more short term disposable commodities. And
eventually there MAY be more time to enjoy pastimes. ( That issue is in doubt. )

I think you're quite right about the value of a linkage to militaria reenactors and such.
We who like military equipment, i'm thinking, may in fact have it better than the rest of ham radio.
This part of the hobby may have a stronger "hook" than nostalgia for old ham gear.
Certainly the reenactors have driven prices up - not totally a bad thing.
William may be loading his cart at some estate sales, but i doubt that he'd want to buy too many
BC-1000's at the future equivalent of this years $1050 or the $4500+ paid for a German FuB1
2-watt sender-receiver.

Probably the reenactments or military vehicle shows or airshows will be good venues to show off
and demonstrate gear, with handouts of something like a QSL but on reverse side of photo concise
info on the hobby and how to learn more about it. -Hue Miller
