Well, that's a good looking 28 volt power supply.  Selenium 
rectifiers or copper oxide?  Probably bad in either case?

I propose that odd control box is for some early jammer, on-off and 
power level being the only required variables.  What all doth the 
meter say on the front?  Seems to be some shortage of clarity in the 
lens.
