I have not seen any results of a test on 50% restriction. I have seen
some-
where the statement in print, and i think it was substantiated by
figures, that
even a 10% reduction in heater current lead to substantial longer life.
(same as in the organic world. )  -Hue Miller

The heater will last longer (not burn out) but that does not mean the Gm
will not go int the toilet, rendering the thing essentially useless.
I've done it to a few tubes, accidentally.
