Breck,

The RCAF AR2 (12 VDC version) and AR6 (24 V version of the AR2) receiver,
manufactured in WW2 by RCA Canada, used on some RCAF light bomber and
reconnaissance aircraft has a DF function, with a separate DF antenna input
and a remote DF indicator.
The receiver covers 140 - 400 KHz and 480 KHz to 21 MHz. (The matching
transmitter is the AT1 (12 V) and the AT7 (24 V).
I have the AR2/AT1 combo and the remote control for the receiver but I never
saw the DF antenna and indicator "live" - only in the documentation and
photos.

The Bendix RA-1 receiver (the mating receiver to the Bendix TA-12
transmitter) has DF function as well. The RA-1/TA-12 were used on RCAF
Lancaster bombers, while the RAF Lancasters used the R1155/T1154 set.
