Thanks for all the radiation info guys, I will follow them up. More would
also be appreciated
I don't normally get too concerned with all the anti-lead, anti PCBs, etc
which are everywhere in the older military equipment we all use and don't
see any concern when appropriate steps are taken .....don't eat it, don't
drink it, if the capacitor is rusted and leaking don't put your hands in
it, etc. Just like "it's also heavy" ....don't drop it on your foot.
However when I took the last 1/2 ton of scrap out of that APN-16 Radar
Set trailer and set off the "hot load" radiation alarm at the scrap yard
causing them to hand scan the load and reject it .....that got my
attention. It's the OS-24 Synchroscope and the AZ-EL Range Indicator. I
just don't know how sensitive those sensors are today, especially since
they asked me if I had a stress test recently (they inject some mildly
radioactive stuff into your veins ?). I told them "Yes, I'm having it
now" .........they didn't think that was funny, no humor at all out
there.
