[Milsurplus] A New Prize

I think Hue has brilliantly pinpointed the essential issue, and that is
that a "stock" F-* or B-* airplane was somewhat of a variable in terms
of on-board equipment. It is all well and good to document the
configuration at a single point in time (and I'm glad that Consolidated
did so, believe me...I peruse my own copy (thanks, Don Merz) with
regularity.) Interestingly enough, the various aircraft Erection &
Maintenance manuals detail the avionics in about the same way.
Unfortunately, these are in short supply for the WWII aircraft and
contain *much* more information than we need as radio folks. If you can
get access to one of these, you will gain a better impression of the
scope of systems aboard these aircraft (as well as an appreciation for
their interaction.)

Best 73,
Mike
