I have an article from a Canadian Ham publication called Xtal from April 
1947 entitled Modifying the R1155..  It says:

VR99      6K8G
VR100    6K7G
VR101    6R7G
VR102     6F8G
VI102       6U5

"The Canadian tubes listed to the right are directly interchangeable 
with the English types, and no tining adjustments are necessary"

Makes sense.  I doubt if the Brits we spinning a whole bunch of new tube 
types while the bombs were falling.
