Mark,

No, the Signal Corps and Navy sets did not receive new nomenclature.  They 
always remained what they had begun life as.  Components of them were used to 
build the later sets, but not necessarily all components.

As other good examples, SCR-193 and SCR-542 were combined with added 
components to make AN/VRC-1.  Part of SCR-300 plus PP-114(*)/VRC-3 became AN/VRC-3.  
Parts of SCR-694-C plus a bunch of other stuff made up AN/TRC-2.  Etc.  

And to put it from another perspective, none of the source sets mentioned 
include the prime mover.  Some of the derivative sets do.  On the components 
list.  Requisition one AN/MRC-6 and you get one Jeep complete with Radio Set.

And RT-19/ARC-4 is just the radio.  The others mentioned are complete radio 
sets.
