   +285  is the common voltage used on most of the interphone amps during
   the  war,  John.   They  needed  a little extra oomph to get the power
   output up.  They frequently have a command set style base which allows
   them  to  be  plugged  into  the  back of the command receivers, but I
   wouldn't want to use them like that for very long these days.
