Not that this covers all aspects or will make anyone feel much better
about the possibility, but here are some postings from

I was at the museum about four months ago. Generally, it is filled
with replicas, rather than relics, so the loss in terms of historical
value would not be large . . . If I was looting there, I'd head
straight for some of the neato stuff in the gift shop!
Practically across the street is the Confederate Memorial Museum. Now
THAT is filled with near-priceless artifacts. The building housing
that collection is fairly elevated in the manner of the last century,
and there wasn't much housed in the basement when I was there. It's a
sturdy large-brick structure, and I imagine it could be locked up
pretty tight. I hope someone took precautions.

I went to the D-Day museum three years ago. I enjoyed what I saw, but
I agree, everything I remember is replaceable. By D-Day, I should
point out, that it covers the more than 100 D-Days in WWII and is in
New Orleans because that was the home of the Higgins Boats that were
heavily used in amphibious landings.

Can't vouch for the accuracy, having never been there myself. I agree
with the concern for having so much important stuff in one place,
particularly if it's vulnerable. I wonder how many years it will be
until a tornado finds its way to the AF museum in Dayton, for example.
One of the largest outbreaks took place there years ago. A great deal
of damage was done at Bradley Field in Windsor Locks, CT by a tornado
back in the late 70s or early 80s. New England isn't known for
tornados, but it didn't stop it from happening.
Let's hope the reports are wrong or exaggerated, at the very least.
