The Marine Corps Monograph on the Saipan campaign has two communications related photos. One of a group behind a medium tank with one man carrying a SCR 300. The other with two men operating a SCR 284.
In the Conclusion, a regimental commander states, "our communications worked so well that there is a general disposition to take them for granted." It goes on to say "One item of signal equipment left much to be desired: the infantry platoon leader's radio (SCR 536). Unpredictable, fragile, short-ranged, easily affected by moisture, the tiny sets did not answer the requirements.

Best,
Bruce
