I forget why I can't just replace the pump, and it is out in the back 40 at the repeater site, and it is dark and raining, or I would go out and refresh my memory. Dual purpose or something, as I recall. Looks just like the diaphragm in the fuel pump on the 5 window '32 Chevy coupe I had in high school. Need another one. Old one all dried out.

George -

I bet you're right on the money, or at least in the ballpark. I picked
up an old Onan 3kw light plant about 22 years ago. Nifty piece of
equipment - 2 cyl flathead, cast iron radiator, and those nice
nickel-plated acorn cap nuts all over it, mounted on a wagon for easy
of moving. Same thing wrong with it, although it did start and run
after I insulated the mag wires better from the case. Only one
problem: it was pushing gas out the little vent hole on bottom at a
pretty good clip. Someone had actually tried to repair the diaphragm
with silicone sealant! A visit to an OT locally who restored old cars
and had just bought out a shop produced an exact match. Can't remember
the year or car, but I held them up together and there was no
difference. Ended up getting two, just in case.

Sure do miss the interchangeability of the old stuff...
