Hi Clete,

Of that there is no doubt. I've probably got at least 20 different range receivers in my collection, several of which are dry-cell powered (including a Lear-Avian model).

The interesting thing about the Setchell-Carlson Model 591, a.k.a. the AN/CRR-1, is Chesson's comment that it was to be paired with the SCR-578 (BC-778) emergency/rescue 500 kc transmitter. Normally NO receiver was associated with the SCR-578.

The question is: What use would the party in distress make of a beacon/range receiver? If one is using a SCR-578 transmitter to signal distress, what value is there to the party being rescued to be able to receive A2 or A3 signals in the 195 to 420 kc frequency range of the AN/CRR-1?

73,
Mike / KK5F
