[Milsurplus] TBY frequency experiment

Hi,

I recently did a little experiment with my TBY set.  Using the calibration
chart, I set it to channels 1-4 and measured the frequency.  I found the
channel spacing to be around 300kc, and I found the frequency to vary by as
much as 100kc as the antenna loading is adjusted.

It is no wonder that hams often modified these for crystal control, as it
would be quite difficult to hit a narrow receiver passband with one of
these.  

Communications between TBY sets, or with other units having broad receivers
(BC-224?)would be no problem.
