The Squadron Signal books, many of them have interesting photos including
radio eqpt. I've bought a number of them just to "document" my equipment.
For example, the one on the Italian SM-79 bomber has some rare shots of the
RF-350 transmitter - never, never seen in real life today.
The S/S book on the TBM/ TBF has many interesting photos, but some are
miscaptioned. I wrote them years ago with correction information but the
reply was along the lines of "yeah, yeah". Which slightly surprises me
because
the books are geared toward the factoid enthusiast type person.
A problem with shopping for the S/S books is that if you buy them by mail,
sight unseen, a new title you've never looked at before, you don't know if
the radio/ pages count is going to be worthwhile - in fact, for the specific
aircraft you're interested in, or armor, the newer books = generally less
radio
shots, and some have no radio shots at all. On the other hand, many of the
hobby stores that sell have them shrink-wrapped now, to prevent them looking
like pre-owned books after a few months, so you again don't have any promise
of what you're going to get. -Hue Miller Oh BTW, i wouldn't say the
Monograms
on Nipponese aircraft were a great must-buy, but i actually did see a few
Nippon radios in their pages, in some interesting aircraft. The only (other)
(semi) listing of Nippon aircraft vs. their radios i have seen, is in an ONI
manual,
and it looks to me as inaccurate as h*ll. Eventually, i'll post some of
those
photos and some others i have gathered.
