Group,

I've been asked to supply a radio to go into a to be restored USMC M3 GMC.
These were transferred to the Marines by the Army after they were replaced by
the M10 in Europe. It's hard enough figuring out what radio might have been in
them in Army service. The only thing we have to go on are exterior photos of
some (called by the Marines SMP) on Okinawa and one photo I just turned up of
one on Tinian.

All of the photos that give any clue at all show an HF antenna (MP-37 and
MS-53 through MS-49) mounted on the right side more or less above the forward
passenger seat. Assuming that the Army would have pulled their radios before the
transfer, what did the Marines use? Only choice I can think of (HF) is the
TCS with 21881 dual dynamotor (the M3 is 12 volt). But I don't fancy an
unprotected TCS just sitting there between the driver and passenger seat (center
seat was removed in the M3 GMC). Any thoughts?
