Weather was much improved today, temperature in the mid seventies and
clear sky's with lots of sunshine. Do not know why but attendance was
about the same as yesterday, not the big crowds that I have seen in the
past on Saturday. Amount of sellers was same as yesterdays, did not
notice any new sellers. Some additional price information. Saw couple
ARC-5 transmitters, one covering 40 and the other on 80, both $60 each,
a MD-7 modulator for $95 a set of TCS radios for $40 each and a endless
supply of M-80 microphones, headsets and handsets all for $10 each. More
and more people bring thing to Dayton for deals that are already
settled. Saw a BC-191 that was in transit along with some other stuff.
Maybe the best thing about Dayton is the other functions besides the
sales; it's the perfect opportunity to show off your stuff. Top place
for this year has to go to Bob, AB8OP and his Dodge M-37 with radio
shelter with T-195/ R-392 and two sets of RT-68 running for both days of
the show. Everything was powered by the engine driven generator so it
must have cost him a fortune in gas! The 3885 Kc net had about thirty
check inns with many BC-611 active. The Cold War net had twenty check
inns with many PRC-6, 10 and 68 radios, along with two stations using
PRR-9 and PRT transmitters. Highlight of the picture session afterwords
was the attempt to get one of the working examples of a BC-1000 on line
but it failed. Will not be going tomorrow, will head to the Air force
Museum in the morning then hitting the road for the twelve hour trip
back.
