Radio silence was intended to prevent distracting our crews
from what they were doing, as well as keep the enemy from
learning what our intentions were, like "Here we come!".
Radio silence also implied that anything heard on the radio
was of official importance that had better be heard.
However, I know that in times of stress, mostly over target
or while evading evil, the pilot or whoever could use the
radio did actually talk a lot, and most of it was unprintable
even on this mature(?) thread. There was a lot of fatalism,
and sometimes a man would think, "This the last thing I'm
ever going to say.". So I wouldn't be suppressed if those
guys in B's group didn't talk it up. It built bravado.
I doubt that the Japanese reaction to the noise on the
radio was all that knee-jerk. Nobody ever said they were dumb.
