Being a Newbie and not up on many aircraft radios I do know a little on USMC
ground to air communication between the F4U (Corsair) and the MZ series radio
jeep. By Saipan, it is my understanding the F4U went from the GF/RU to the
ATA/ARA and was in communication with the jeep mounted RT-19/ARC-4 at 140-144 MC
AM. This was in widespread use during the invasions that used air support, as
in Iwo Jima. I have at least a dozen photos of different radio jeeps modified
to carry a MAH (RT-19/ARC-4) on the offside wheel well in use on Saipan and
Iwo Jima, as well as the TCS for Naval gunfire support.

140 MC is VHF isn't it?

Mark Tombleson
