[Milsurplus] Aircraft Radio Installations/ Correct in the manual?

I've been following the thread about putting such and such a radio in various aircraft. As in: does it belong there? Why isn't shown in the manual? Well, I have a little experience in that area. I wrote a "couple hundred" manuals, large and small, during my years at an aerospace company. I got 'a lot' of my information on my own(!) by attending air shows and noting what was installed in the aircraft on the ground in static displays. I noted many writers (at my own company and other companies) had never seen the a/c at all, nor the radios themselves. Pretty scary, huh? Now, this isn't to say we goofed off: since I was the only guy with two-way/ham radio experience, I wrote Real troubleshooting proceedures and tips.
Once, in a (VERY) preliminary manual, my boss asked, "where did you get this information?" My reply was that, "I made it up as I went along". He just shook his head. He knew when we got "real" information, I would update it. Now, if anyone is familiar with the procedures, manuals go through (semi-endless) reviews and updates before finalizing. They are checked by government employees and crew-cheifs/technicians, etc. Now, I could go on about gov. employees...:-)
