Hue for MF & within limits for HF, I'd say  only the vertical component 
radiated, the horizontal acted as a capacity load (from an unterminated 
transmission line)

Sorta like the rudder-to-fuselage HF ant.s on bummers

Things like WE 803 rigs had huge insulation in their 'direct wire feed'
antenna-match section to get out

But this's from the view of theory.  What say 'bout practice operating public?
