One of the other gents commented on moving away from liquid 'refrigerants' to 'peltier' devices. Interestingly enough, that's one of the things I'm working on....for automobiles. Since I'm a thrifty guy, I'll ensure it's (relatievely) cheap and (semi)reliable. Funny thing - in order to legally retro-fit and experiment with a vehicle, I have to remove the existing refrigerant (and the rest of the a/c system) at an approved station...which has usually leaked out anyway...
