On the matter of SCR-522 range, TM 11-227 (April 1944) lists 130 miles "at 
10,000 ft (line of sight)"

The SCR-624 was a 522 (BC-624A & BC-625A) and an AC supply in a couple of 
chests.   Air transportable setup intended for line-of-site ground and 
ground-to-air communications.   For 
the latter mode, TM 11-227 again lists a maximum range of 130 miles.
