Not quite the right title but: from New York Times article 3/15/05 -
"How Electronics Are Penetrating North Korea's Isolation"

"To crack down on home viewing of imported videotapes, the North
Korean police developed a strategy of encircling a neighborhood in
the evening, cutting off electricity, then inspecting [videotape] players
to find videotapes stuck inside....."

Interesting variation on "isolate the area" technique dating to
occupied Europe.

I had also heard elsewhere ( NPR ) that some North Koreans had
found that by opening up their fixed-tuned national radios, they
could change the frequency by holding metal near the tuner
(tuning capacitor). That resort might not be necessary any more
however, as North Korean workers bring home radios from China
or radios smuggled in from South Korea.
As in the Cold War, it's not fought totally on the front of military
power. When people get tired, real tired, or playing the game,
the system falls. -Hue Miller
