Marty, i thot i'd read that the Soviet subs' audio df-ing lead to several
near collisions, as the signals from the recorder bias were very minute
and the Soviets approached too close.  The installation of the capstan
shroud modification eliminated the escape of  energy from the recorders
and ended that vulnerability
