I bought an Astec V6S series *dual* 24 volt 50 amp switcher from Ebay
for $45.  Hooked a wire between the control connectors and
it forces them to load-share.
Starts my PE-73 (75-amp surge) with no fuss.
It is about half the size of a shoe box and weighs all of
six or eight pounds.  Best milradio thing I ever found.
