Dave,

As long as you (a) operate it with the battery compartment door open (per the 
manual) and (b) let it warm up and stablize temperature-wise, nothing.  I 
have a pair of BC-221-AK's that I use with a coax selector switch for front-end 
alignment and oscillator tracking of receivers or transmitters (saves a lot of 
wear and tear on the old wrist).  Aside from taking up quite a bit of bench 
space, they work fine.  I've been thinking of converting them to TS-164/AR to 
save space.
