I've been looking at that too. It is a four channel HF transceiver, uses 3
6146s in the final amp. Has built-in provisions for RTTY, AM, FM, SSB,
AME, ISB, etc.
All tubes.
The trouble is that Westrex manuals are nearly impossible to find.
I have a Westrex 6010B receiver, which is FAR advanced for its time. It
took me over a year to find a manual for it, and it was only through the
kindness of a member of our list that I got one.
Turns out that most of the Westrex 6010 receivers were used by the
FBI and the CIA. Mine MAY have been used by the USCG. Mine is
substantially complete.
The Westrex 6010B has a built-in RTTY converter, a product detector
for SSB, and receives AM, FM, CW, RTTY, SSB, ISB, AME, all in a 6"
tall rack mount receiver with built-in power supply.
The ones that the fellow who got me that manual ended up with were
previously owned by the FBI and when they surplused them, they
removed and destroyed the 20 channel turret, possibly in an effort to
eliminate any evidence concerning what frequencies they were
communicating on. He has been searching for a turret ever since and
has not found one yet.
I have hesitated bidding on that Westrex 900B transceiver ONLY
because the manuals are possibly non-existent.
I tried to track Westrex down, and found that it was bought by some
well known areospace company, whose name I have at the moment
forgotten. I contacted them. They, however, had NO Westrex manuals,
all having been destroyed shortly after they aquired the company.
