Makes good sense to me, Bob. When discussing space for a 160m antenna,
the general consensus has always been to put up as long of a
horizontal wire as possible, then run the rest down vertical to the
feedpoint if there isn't enough space for a completely horizontal
antenna. I've been told to bend, droop the ends, zig and zag, etc.
This in order to fit a larger antenna into a smaller area. I suspect
if the vertical part were the only radiator, you'd want to run as much
vertical as possible.  Not that a vertical wouldn't work too, just
that the horizontal area in a limited space antenna is radiating as
well.

That's a bit wordy, but you get my meaning...
