We used to use a sling shot and shoot the old style camera flash bulbs( 
magnesium  filaments?) up in the air at the TV station to check for active 
antenna elements. Using  fluorescent bulbs to check RF voltages can still be 
very handy, I keep one near the open wire line exit point in  the  shack as 
a quick check since I am remote tuning from the other side of the operations 
area.
