They were extent from before WW2 and then in the 1970s were still
producing their forte - boat radios - altho they since post WW2 they
also dabbled in entertainment civilian portable radios- for example,
the Jeff Trav transistor radios - which were of course made in the orient
and labeled for Jeff. They were still in business in the late 1980s or
early 1990s, as i wrote for a quote on the manual for a VHF boat
radio and received a reply. ( Unfortunately, i procrastinated. )
To me, the Jeff Trav older equipment built in the USA has a kind of
unique slightly strange look. Maybe that's an exaggeration. It has
to do with maybe a certain ineptness in making a design look attractive,
cosmetic. Like the big JT on the speaker of their portable tube radio.
The (to me) odd style knobs on the MBM (metal, special knobs to this
set only) and their location. I am aware of these products: JT-350,
JT 25 (postwar boat / ranch radio ), portable 2 band radio receiver
( 1940s? ), transistor radio, maybe 2 models aircraft radio, several
VHF FM boat radios (imported?? ), Navy MBM ( 1945? ). -Hue Miller
