[Milsurplus] SCR-300 Aircraft Radio

In my post i pretty much used the language that was in the original article. 
I got a couple
things not quite right. The rubber straps are used to mount the battery box, 
not the
radio SCR-300/ BC-1000.  The BC-1000  is held maybe 10-12 inches below the 
AVR-20
by 4 metal strips or brackets or legs. Actually, it looks quite tuff, this 
dashboard with
the 2 receivers ARR-13 (BC-1206 / Setchell Carlson 524 ) and AVR-20 and 
BC-1000.
( Look for the forthcoming book, "I Was Tail Gunner on an L-5" ).  Also, i 
speculated
the L-5 never had a transmitter. I do not know this for a fact. Oddly, the 
article does
not mention the HF transmitter at all, altho you would think #1 with that 
wire antenna
it would -- you wouldn't think the receivers needed that much wire. #2 the 
BC-1000
probably wouldn't be much help for air-ground comms at the airfields. But- 
why would
they take it out??? Would they really fly the L-5 without an air-ground HF 
transmitter?
The photos will eventually get posted. And yes, Dave, i reckoned you'd get a 
kick out
