Well, if you consider what happened to them during
WWII it's no wonder they have a crappy attitude.  They
DID fight valiantly in the beginning only to have
their gov't chicken out and run, then the hero of the
last war took over just to surrender them to the enemy
when the guys doing the fighting thought they finally
had someone with the courage and ability to win.  Half
of the country gave up France to side with the Nazis
against England.  They had a good navy, one of the
best battleships of the era, but it was left scuttled
and in flames on the African coast.

Ugly situation to be the victim of such deceit and
treachery while the US, and the Brits, pulled their
bacon out of the fire for them.
