[Milsurplus] PRC-16

Hi All,
I memory is correct (always a problem) there is a section in the RT-70 TM
that tells about the battery and antenna to convert the RT-70 into the
PRC-16 (not sure this is the number, but think it's correct). All That was
needed was the battery box and antenna. I have never actually laid eyes on
these 2 items, but that was all that it took. I believe that Fair Radio
actually had some of this stuff back a few years (more than I care to think
about). The RT-68 was not ever considered for a PRC role. Can't imagine
packing that on my back, might as well pack a GRC-19.

PRC-16...Wow, when/where was that combination used? Closest thing I can
find in my library is the field modification kit MX-898/GR which contained
auxiliary equipment to allow temporary, non-vehicular field operation of an
RT-68.
Kit included the same battery case (CY-590), antenna mount and sections
(MT-652/GR, AB-22 & AB-24) as shown on the diagram referenced above. The
kit
also included a hand generator (G-8) which I presume could have used in the
PRC-16 setup as well.
Finally found an MT-652/GR at Dayton last month after several years of
looking.
