[Milsurplus] Radio movies

I remember seeing a movie some years back where an airplane crashed in 
the Canadian wilderness or so hellish cold place anyway.  Don't remember 
any of the participants other than Andy Devine (from Kingman, AZ).  Lots 
of radio work going on and it might have been one of the movies 
mentioned here.  Some of the descriptions about "using the last of the 
aircraft battery" rings a bell.  Andy was the pilot of the C-47 rescue 
aircraft and had no heater in the cockpit.  Wore a long fur coat i think 
and had a long stick of some sort that he could use to change settings 
on the control boxes overhead without taking his hands out of his pockets.

ANyone remember that one?  It's been a long time since i've seen it so i 
don't remember any particular radio scenes.
