Not really sure on that as they can cover tactically different needs. I
have a friend who was a Marine GRC-9 CW op during the 1958 Beirut incursion.
Pat Melley was as able to contact the offshore element beyond LOS with his
'Angry9'. During the last time we did it that was not the case, patrols with
a '25 or '77 had comm. probs in the city. Co workers, WA6VOV among them,
built a relay drone using.....PRT/PRR parts . The test was done at China
Lake then the bird went to the Eastern Med. Through the '80s-'90s there were
lots of NVIS studies done because of the lack of comm. between the deployed
and offshore elements.
