Another report from Richard Brunner on SAQ reception. Interesting
comments he makes concerning his methods.

Ken, OM:

I am so happy I should run around the house a few times to let off
steam.

I've tried before, and NEVER heard anything.

The 500 foot wire was crucial, and grounding the receiver helped a lot
too.

It's so simple...now.

In the end I only got about 30% copy because of the static, but absent
static it would have been 100%. The text only ran about five minutes.
(The V's were clear!)

I expected best propagation for the earlier transmissions because I was
still in the dark, but maybe I didn't have the receiver optimally adjusted.

I had set frequency with a signal generator and digital counter, and was
dead-on, but may not have had the gain high enough, though the static
came through fine.

Later I also found that the limiter significantly improved readability.

Right now the RBL is sitting on 500 kc, and naturally I hear nothing, but
hope springs eternal.

Richard, AA1P
