I recently read two articles in a Signal Corps magazine dealing with the
types of antennas we have been describing here used by the German Army in
WWII. They were NVIS antennas. I'll try to find the articles dealing with
communications in the desert, something the Services have a present interest
in, that dealt mostly with German pre-war research and war time
implementation. There were pictures of scout/command vehicles with
horizontal loop antennas with descriptions of operation. Mr. Fiedler who
wrote the article has been working in the field/tactical communications area
for quite a while
