As a B-52 crewmember from 63-66, I never
saw any such radio. Breck is correct that a
radio in a flight suit pocket would probably
depart that location upon chute opening.

I see that the RS-6 string has started again. Some one mentioned that the
components units would fit in a flight suit pocket, I doubt if this would be
a procedure . Another factor is that if the crew member somehow squeezed
one of the components into his flight suit pocket the unit would exit the
bottom of the pocket at initiation of the parachute shock (opening) . We
found that out the hard way with the URC-4 series .

It is a very difficult radio to set up and operate. It does not have a
spotting function and it is very difficult to find your frequency that you
are transmitting on.

There is a way to spot your frequency but is very difficult and requires a
lot of screwing around. I have modified my set for a spotting function with
a hidden micro switch.

I know of no crew member in SAC that was trained or had any knowledge of
this radio system.

A picture taken at the fall MRCA of my RS-6 station is at
