One thing everyone has failed to point out here is that probably the only 
person with a knowledge of Morse Code on these aircraft was the radio operator. 
The pilot and co-pilot may have some knowledge due to receiving instrument 
airport identifiers which, to my knowledge, are still transmitted in Morse. If the 
radio op became incapacitated, the survivors would have had a tough time 
since the
 RS-6 was a CW only rig.

Need I say more about CW being placed in the circular file as far as much, if 
not all of the military establishment is concerned?
